Decision 2022: Election Day to be held Tuesday

Tuesday brings the 2022 General Election to voters of Gloucester and Mathews counties.
The ballot this year in Gloucester County features just one race, that of Virginia’s First Congressional District seat. The Congressional race is also on the ballot in Mathews, along with a special election to choose between two hopefuls for the remaining year of an unexpired school board term (see related story).
Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters will be asked to provide identification.
Early voting has been underway since Sept. 23 and ends at 5 p.m. Saturday. Voters wishing to cast ballots early may do so, in Gloucester at the registrar’s office, 6467 Main Street, Building One, and in Mathews at the registrar’s office, Liberty Square, 10604 Buckley Hall Road.

Gloucester County has 11 voting precincts, and 30,056 registered voters as of Oct. 27, said general registrar Bobbi Morgan. Voting places are assigned to residents as follows:
