Deborah (Debby) Jean Thompson King, 69, passed away on November 11, 2024 after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer and entered her heavenly home in the presence our Lord and Savior. Debby was born in Arlington, Va., to the late Gerald and Joyce Thompson. She was a graduate of Fairfax (Va.) High School, Class of 1972. She also continued her formal education at Virginia Wesleyan College where she graduated in the Class of 1976 specializing in Elementary Education. She earned her state teaching credentials that afforded her to teach all the elementary grade levels. Debby’s career spanned a combined 37 years between Virginia Beach, Va., and Gloucester County, Va., Public School systems and retired from Gloucester Schools in 2013. During her early teaching career, she met the love of her life, Michael “Mike” King, on a blind date arranged by her longtime college roommate. They were married in 1980 and shared over 44 great years together. Debby balanced her career teaching and being a homemaker while being able to raise and care for three children. Debby was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church and her beloved Cornerstone Sunday School Class. During her retirement years she and Mike were able to travel and visit many countries around the world. One of Debby’s favorite joys was the yearly family reunion get-together at Capon Springs & Farms in West Virginia. But her favorite joy was spoiling and caring for her four grandchildren.
Debby is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her three beloved children, David H. King (Karen), Bryan M. King and Jason M.
