Deadline Saturday for Art Speaks Juried Exhibition

The deadline for artists to submit applications for the annual Art Speaks Juried Exhibition at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews is midnight this Saturday, March 1.
The opening reception for the show will be held on Saturday, April 26, with prizes totaling $6,350 awarded, including $1,500 for Best in Show.
Any artist living in Virginia or with a working studio in Virginia who is at least 18 years old may participate with a wide range of 2D and 3D media. The entry fee is $35 for up to three entries; $20 for full-time students.
The judge and juror for the show is Diego Sanchez, a native of Bogota, Colombia, an award-winning artist whose artwork has been exhibited across Virginia and internationally. Sanchez earned both a BFA and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University’s painting and printmaking department and has served on the boards of several arts organizations. He currently holds the position of head of the art department at St. Catherine’s School in Richmond.
