DAVID BLACKWOOD MARCHANT

(August 5, 1947-September 25, 2020)

Dave was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up in Loudoun County, Virginia. Dave graduated from Loudon County High School. Served for six years in the U.S. Navy on the Corey DD817 and was in Vietnam when the war ended. Dave made his way back to Norfolk where he met and married his wife Pat. He graduated from Old Dominion University in 1977. Dave started working in healthcare technology at Riverside and Norfolk General Hospitals and spent 40 years as a Healthcare IT Professional. Dave loved his family, golf, playing with the Tank Geezers, and sailing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at the Church of the Visitation in Topping, Virginia.

Dave’s loving wife Pat and dog Sophie, brother Kerford and his wife Linda, two sons and their spouses, David and Crista, Michael and Amy, and seven grandchildren, Morgan, Hunter, Madison, Emma, Joseph, Jack and Maggie will miss him as he will always be remembered as a loving soul who got great joy as the best husband, friend, father and grandfather there could be.

Services for Dave were held at the Church of the Visitation in Topping, Virginia, on Sept. 29 with a viewing at 10 a.m. and mass at 11 a.m. Internment was at COV cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions only 50 people were allowed in the church. All were welcome at the cemetery.
