Members of Cricket Hill Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met on Memorial Day at the Veterans’ Monument at Liberty Square to place a wreath honoring the county’s veterans. Members said aloud the names of family members and friends who have died serving their country and Becky Morgan delivered a prayer. Afterwards, the members went to the DAR Monument on the Court Green and laid a second wreath. Each member said the name of their Revolutionary War patriot and Carolyn Hogge delivered a prayer. As if on cue, the bells at Central Methodist Church rang, playing “The Star Spangled Banner” and the ladies turned to face the flag and sang along with the bells. “It was a moving finale to a lovely experience of remembrance, tribute and hope,” said chapter spokesman Trish Reed.
