Dallas R. Thomas, 76, died peacefully at home March 26, 2015.
He was the son of Avery L. and Eula Seward Thomas, and lived his entire life in Hartfield.
He was predeceased by two brothers, A. Larkin and Wilton Thomas, and is survived by one sister, Grace (Richard) Parker.
Throughout his career he worked in the food business, first as a delivery driver and salesman for Norton Food Co., and later as co-owner and vice-president of Five Rivers Food Company.
In retirement, he started his own lawn service business. He was an active member of Lower United Methodist Church, participating in the choir and men’s choir. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Gloucester and Warwick.
He was a charter member of the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Dept. He loved dancing and studied ballroom dancing for years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Selma Jordan Thomas, and sons, the Rev. Jim Thomas (Amy) and Ray Thomas (Hee Lee), and four grandchildren, Clay, Drew, Porter and Taryn.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015, in Lower United Methodist Church, Hartfield. Interment was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
