Cynthia Y. West, 40, Gloucester Point, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011.

Cynthia was born in Newport News, and was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula. She was employed with York River Feed and Fish as a dog groomer, and was a former water woman and avid gardener.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Betsy Louise Shifflett, and a sister, Megan Hogge. She is survived by her fiancé, Dennis Jenkins; a son, Jacob Anthony West; four daughters, Jessica K. West, Felicia Ann West, Sylvia Renee West, Amber Nicole West; three grandchildren, and special friends, Faye and Susan Coates, Hope Jenkins, Sam Jenkins and Chuck Ash.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Union Baptist Church in Hayes with Dr. Rodney F. Autry officiating.
