COVID-19 cases continue to surge across the Three Rivers Health District with an average of 30 new cases recorded per day. Cases are also increasing both statewide (an average of 3,308 cases per day) as well as nationally (108,000 new cases daily).
Though cases are increasing across the health district, community transmission in the TRHD (with the exception of Richmond County) still remains classified as low by Centers of Disease Control and Prevention standards.
According to the weekly Three Rivers Pandemic Update, the BA.2.12.1 variant continues to cause increases in cases, both regionally and on a national level. Though disease expression remains mild for most people who contract the virus, hospitalizations continue to increase with the rise in cases.
Approximately 73.6 percent of Virginia’s total population in is currently fully vaccinated.
