Judge Claggett B. Jones, of King and Queen, Major James N. Stubbs of Gloucester, Col. John R. Saunders and W.D. Evans, Middlesex, are in town this week attending court.
There are in the office of the Adams Express Co., at Fitchetts Wharf, two packages express pre-paid addressed to Miss Myra Washington and H.G. Coon, respectively. Mr. Fitchett requests that these parties call and receive the goods.

The citizens of Mathews County met at the courthouse Friday, Sept. 13, and after hearing an inspiring address from Mr. Scott, a representative from the office of the State Highway Commissioner, and talks from other citizens, resolutions were passed recommending to the Supervisors that they purchase an outfit consisting of mules and machinery sufficient to do thorough work, and the employment of a competent road man to superintend the roads of the county.
