Court dedicates ‘A Special Place Just For Kids’

Well-wishers filled the Gloucester Juvenile and Domestic Relations courtroom Monday afternoon for the dedication of “A Special Place Just For Kids.”
The special place is formerly a basic, undecorated witness waiting room that has been transformed into a more comforting and supportive spot for young victims of physical and sexual abuse prior to giving their testimony in court.
Gloucester Commonwealth’s Attorney Holly Smith said creating the special space for children has been a dear project to her and is something she has wanted since taking the chief prosecutor’s position six and a half years ago. 
After past applications to potential funding sources to support the transformation were unsuccessful, Smith said the Gloucester Community Foundation was receptive to the request and provided the $2,000 grant to make the room possible.
