The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will meet virtually at 6 p.m. Tuesday via the Zoom platform. The meeting will be shared live on the county’s meeting portal and on its Facebook page.
The board will hold a public hearing on text amendments to the zoning ordinance intended to protect the county from any major utility use being permitted by right under the current zoning ordinance’s language for Utility. The language is specifically designed to address utility-scale solar development while updates to address the issue are being developed for the comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance.
Sheriff Mark Barrick will speak to the board about the possibility of joining other Middle Peninsula localities to address the need for a new system for public safety radios, and Emergency Services Coordinator Willie Love will discuss a new notification system that has been instituted for emergency alerts.
