County board sets its levies

At their last meeting on April 8, the Mathews Board of Supervisors laid the levies for the year as follows: County Levy, 30¢ on the $100.00; Road Levy, 30¢ on the $100.00; County School Levy, 20¢ on the $100.00 in all Districts. District Levy 25¢ on the $100.00 in the Piankatank and Chesapeake Districts, and 15¢ on the $100.00 in the Westville District.

Around Mobjack, among those who came up on the General Mathews Sunday were Miss Frankie Davis, Miss Mavis Chapman, Miss Cecil Carter, Mr. C.S. Phillips and Mr. Lonnie Foster.
Rev. R.R. Burnett and Miss Harriet James motored to Richmond Monday.
The Egg Hunt held on the Oak Grove Church lawn Monday, for the juniors, was very much enjoyed by all. Little Miss Elsie White carried off the greatest number of eggs found.
