The Mathews Chapter of the Continental Societies, Inc., awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Emersyn Duff on June 8 at the Mathews High School graduation ceremony. The award was presented by D. Lorraine Forrest, President of the Mathews Chapter. Duff plans to attend James Madison University in the fall. The mission of the Continental Societies, Inc., is to create environments within communities that empower children to have access to quality and appropriate opportunities to reach their optimal potential. It is an international organization dedicated to the socioeconomic and cultural welfare of underserved children and youth.
