The Gloucester Branch of the NAACP and the Lighthouse Overcomers Support Group will host the second annual Community Health and Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, at the LightHouse Church, 4299 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes. The fair is being sponsored by Riverside Walter Reed Hospital and Anthem HealthKeepers Plus.
The Community Health and Resource Fair is intended to connect all our citizens, of all ages and backgrounds, to local health, mental health and wellness services and community resources, according to NAACP Health Committee chair Natalie Johnson, RN, and Overcomers’ representative Jay Dobson.
Dr. Vanessa Walker Harris, Director of the Office of Family Health Services at the Virginia Department of Health, will deliver the keynote address at 11 a.m. She will address social determinants of health which describe the conditions where people live, learn, work, play and age that directly affect their health outcomes and risks.
