“Collective Diversity,” an exhibition of artworks of the CRIT Group of Washington, D.C., will open with a reception during First Friday, from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, at Arts on Main in Gloucester.
The CRIT Group, currently numbering 13 artists, first came together while receiving Masters of Fine Arts degrees at the American University in 1986 and have steadily met once a month since then. The meetings are inspired by the thesis critiques they had while earning their degrees and provide an opportunity to discuss their work and exchange ideas.
Local artist and Arts on Main teacher Rose Nygaard is a founding member of the group and will exhibit her paintings in the show, which features a wide variety of techniques and media.
