COLBY SHIELD ADAMS

Colby Shield Adams, age 23, of Gloucester County, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2025. Colby graduated from Gloucester High School in 2020, was a member of Severn Church, and was currently in an iron workers’ apprentice program with W.O. Grubb Crane Rental and a proud Local #28 Iron Workers’ Union member. Colby enjoyed his job, hunting, boating, and traveling to the Outer Banks with his family and loved hanging out with his friends. He was a good man who always put others before himself. Above all else, he fiercely loved his family and his fiancée, Victoria. Colby was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, JoElla Adams, John Adams Sr., and Regina Adams, as well as his aunt, Teresa Kelley. He is survived by his parents, William “Bill” W. and Katy S. Adams; fiancée, Victoria Randall; sister, Kaylin Adams (Caleb Bell); maternal grandparents, David and Donna Shield; uncle, John J. Adams Jr.; uncle, David Shield Jr. (Chauntea); his aunts, Cindy Callis and Beth Hicks (Rusty), and his many cousins, including Grayson, Chelsea, and Ashley. The family received friends on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10-11:45 a.m. at Petsworth Baptist Church, 2471 Hickory Fork Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061. The Celebration of Life service began at noon, officiated by Pastor John Pouchot and Pastor Bill West. The interment was private. Colby’s family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va. 23061. Services were under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
