The cobia bite has been really good in the Chesapeake Bay over the last week, according to Chuck Ashe with York River Feed & Fishing Supplies, Gloucester Point. He said there have been some flounder biting in and around the York River and croaker fishing has remained steady.

He reported that Henry VanGieson of Gloucester, caught a 7-pound, 4-ounce citation flounder near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

Jerry Thrash of Queens Creek Outfitters at Cobbs Creek, said that flounder cooperated for a few anglers fishing in the Buoy 42 and Cell areas over the week and that small spadefish remain available at the Cell and Wolf Trap Light.

"The croaker bite is focused in the Buoy 42 area and over to buoy 40A," Thrash said. "Spot are being caught off Gwynn’s Island, Butlers Hole and the Spike."
