Virginia was named the top state for business by CNBC First in Business Worldwide for the sixth time last week.
The state received a score of 1,595 out of a possible 2,500 points in CNBC’s study, said a press release from the news organization. The results were announced by CNBC’s special correspondent Scott Cohn on the show “Squawk Box” on July 11.
Virginia was ranked in the top 10 for education, infrastructure, business friendliness, access to capital, and workforce, said the release. It was ranked in the top half in all parameters. It said that the Old Dominion’s education system was ranked at the top for its “small classes, strong test scores, and a first-rate higher education system” while its infrastructure was ranked third due to its “wealth of shovel-ready sites” and has the ninth best workforce overall.
“With six wins—and three in the last five years—Virginia is our most decorated state,” said Cohn. He said that the state, which also took top honors in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2019, ...
