Club with long history serves in many ways, including food service

With 35 members on the roll, the Mathews County Woman’s Club is relatively small in number but large in community service, dedication and cultural contributions. It’s also talented beyond the norm especially when members gather in the kitchen.
Through 83 years, the club which was organized in 1936 takes seriously its mission of being “large in thought, in word and deed.” Members have taken on many money making projects which would enable them to support their larger deeds of working with art, education, health and all public issues.
 After all of these years of existence the club is still a big contributor to the county. Perhaps this work springs from the oath each member repeats when joining: “I promise to do my best…by being helpful and sincere.”
When members share their culinary talents the benefits are twofold. The diner gets a treat and the proceeds received will benefit a worthy cause.
