Closings today, Friday for July 4 holiday

All courts and county offices in Gloucester and Mathews will be closed today and Friday, July 4 and 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Post offices, school board offices, DMV customer service centers, and waste facilities in the two counties will be closed Thursday only for the holiday. (Note that school board offices in the two counties are closed every Friday in the summer, and that the Mathews Transfer Station and Gloucester waste facilities are closed every Wednesday and Sunday, respectively.)

Mathews Memorial Library will be closed Thursday through Sunday, while Gloucester libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday only.

ABC stores will close one hour early on Thursday, July 4, for the holiday.
