The Gloucester County Clean Community has provided its tips to help reduce litter in the community. The following are things everyone can do to help:
—Cover your load. Litter is blown by wind and traffic or carried by water. Covering your load will cut down on what is carried away;—Set an example for others, especially children, by not littering;—If you smoke, use your car’s ashtray or carry something to hold your extinguished cigarette until you can find a proper container to dispose of your butt. The curbside is not the proper place for cigarette butts;—Carry a litterbag in your car or boat to collect the trash, and dump it in a trash receptacle. Do not dump it out the window or overboard;—Make sure your trash cans have lids that can be securely fastened. If you use curbside pick-up, do not put out loose trash in open containers;—Business owners with dumpsters on their property should check the dumpster daily to ensure the top and/or side door is closed;—On family outings, bring alon...
