Clarence L. West Jr., 91, of Hayes, died March 27, 2015.

Clarence lived in the Glass area of Gloucester County his entire life span, was a lifelong member of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church and the oldest member. He was an elder in the church for many years. Clarence was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a retired house painter.

He loved taking care of his home and family and enjoyed time spent playing with his great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelby W. Friend; parents, several brothers, and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elsie M. West; granddaughter, Leslie Thompson and husband Eric; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Melody and Drew Thompson; brother, Eugene West and wife Bertie; sister, Edith Coates, and son-in-law, Bill Friend and his wife Jackie.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill McCullough was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the church.
