Clarence Jerry “Cap’t Jerry” Croswell died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Walter Reed Convalescent Center, surrounded by his family, at the age of 84.
He was a retiree from the City of Hampton, who loved to be out on the water in his boat or sitting on his deck looking at his daffodils. Jerry was also a member of Providence Baptist Church of Hayes, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Lee and Mary Elizabeth Croswell; his beloved wife, Grace; son, Danny, and sister, Beatrice.
His survivors include, his children, Douglas Gene Croswell (Brenda), Maria Gaye Northrop (Kenny); sisters, Helen Smith, Linda Mabry and Ethel Brown; grandchildren, Jasmine Kaschalk (Tom), Kristy Croswell (Rick), Jeremy Northrop (Rebecca), and Justin Northrop, also four special great-grandchildren, Cesar Adams, Shawn Seawell, Alexandria Northrop and Kaitlyn Northrop, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service, conducted by Pastor Arthur Wolz, will be held at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. In memory of Clarence, contributions may be made to Main Street Gloucester Preservation Trust, P.O. Box 265, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
