Clam chowder

The Abingdon Ruritan Club will hold a clam chowder sale this Saturday to benefit Relay for Life and the fight to find a cure for cancer. The sale will begin at 9 a.m. at the club building in Bena. They have an end time of noon, but usually sell out before then. The club’s Spring Seafood Festival tickets will also be available for purchase that day. In addition to the chowder and festival tickets, those coming out on Saturday will be able to enjoy a musical performance by club member Dan Zaruba. This year’s Spring Seafood Festival, a perennial sell-out event, will be on May 20. Standing behind Zaruba are, from left, chowder sale co-chairs Wade Bunn and Josie Langford and ARC Relay For Life Committee chairwoman Mary Lou Shepherd.
