It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we announce the passing of Christy Haywood Love, 76, of Mathews, who passed away at her home on April 21, 2024.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Benjamin Haywood Sr., and daughter, Angela Ashberry. After retiring from the Virginia ABC store, she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, knitting, traveling, and reading on her front porch.
She is survived by her husband, Marion “Pepper” Love; mother, Eileen Haywood; daughter, Lyndell Michele Williams (Chad) and son, Robert Love (Gina); siblings, Cindy Daly, Cheryl Cooper (Mike), and Charles B. Haywood Jr. (Annette); grandchildren, Ryan Waddell (Ashley), Amanda Schwartz (Brad), Lauren Pharr (Jerry), Zach Williams, Ana Maria Williams, and Jacob Love; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ryker, and Vera Schwartz, Amelia Waddell, and Liam and Reagan Pharr, plus a large extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for Christy in her final days.
