On Wednesday, July 17, the Mission and Evangelism team of Central United Methodist Church, Mathews, hosted a Christmas in July event. Those in attendance admired holiday decor, enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner, sang carols, and listened to a reading of the Christmas story. The highlight of the evening was all the gifts donated to benefit the Social Services Christmas Store. John Lee Callis led the group in singing carols, accompanied by Merle Guy on the piano.
