Christmas feasting

Members and friends of American Legion Post 83 of Mathews carried out their Christmas morning tradition, which stretches back more than 30 years, of delivering home-cooked dinners of turkey, gravy, and all the trimmings, to homebound residents. This year, they delivered to 68 Meals on Wheels recipients, as well as the county dispatcher on duty and others. Meals were prepared by local caterer Shelly Williams and packed by the delivery elves, who included, from left, Tim Roscher, Russell Reed, Jean and C.A. Howard, David Walsh, Jodi Andrews, Willie Hubbard, Lori Oliver, Bonnie Smith, Mary Ann Hubbard, Ron Lambert, Rosemary Eaton, Charlotte Crist, Libby Crawford, Mason Walsh, Debbie Lambert, Chris Knoller, Ray Fleisher and Al Smith.
