Around 10 boats are already signed up to participate in the East River Lighted Christmas Boat Parade, which will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday. Note that this is a change. The parade was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was changed due to the weather forecast.
Parade organizer David Rowe of North said that anyone who wants to participate is welcome to bring their decorated boat to the gathering spot off the shore of Poplar Grove, which is about a mile upriver from the Mobjack Bay. Those who need to put in may do so at Town Point Landing. Rowe said he will be there early, with his Christmas lights on.
The parade route will be from Poplar Grove to Williams Wharf to Town Point Landing and back.
The public will be able to view the parade from Williams Wharf Landing on Williams Wharf Road. The Mathews Land Conservancy will provide help with parking and fire pits for warmth. Light refreshments such as cookies and desserts will be available for purchase, along with hot chocolate an...
