Dressed in attire of the early 20th century, Sophie Vandevander portrayed Fanny Catlett Montague on Dec. 14, during a Christmas at Timberneck event held at the York River plantation by the Fairfield Foundation. Vandevander read a 1926 college paper by Fannie Catlett Montague recalling her childhood memories of Christmas at the old home. Later she met Tish Montague Grant of Ware Neck, right, Fanny Catlett Montague’s daughter.
