Christine Elizabeth Belvin, 96, of Gloucester Point, passed away Feb. 5, 2015 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
Christine was born in Ware Neck, but grew up in the Bohannon area of Mathews County. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She retired from Eastern State Hospital where she was a beautician.
She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking and was known for her delicious homemade ice cream. Christine especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She treasured spending time with her family and made everyone of them feel loved and special.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanley Belvin Sr.; parents, Walter W. and Lillian Smith Hugate; sisters, Helen Dobbins, Ruby H. Langford and Thelma H. Burnette; brothers, Rodney Hugate and Walter Hugate.
She is survived by her sons, John S. Belvin Jr. and wife Delores, Bobby W. Belvin and wife Anita, and T. Frank Belvin and wife Jan; grandchildren, Frank R. Belvin and wife Aimee, Marjorie Reed and husband Tony, Michelle Williams and husband Brad, and Ingrid Bayne and husband Charlie; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah, Allie, Cayman, Cailah, Hannah, Caroline and Olivia; sister, Bernice Colston, and brother, Edward Hugate.
Graveside funeral service conducted by the Rev. Deborah Marion was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Gloucester Point Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the cemetery.
