Chili Cook-Off

Saturday’s Mathews Rotary Club 8th annual Chili Cook-Off, held at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building in Hudgins, was a big success, with a sell-out crowd of about 500 people enjoying a meal and getting to taste (and judge) the best chili made by entries from the Mathews Rotary, Mathews Historical Museum, Bay School Community Arts Center, Mathews Land Conservancy, and Mathews Kiwanis Club. In above photo, Selena Zuhoski, Diane Grice and Bay School Executive Director Pam Doss, from left, served the Bay School’s chili—winners of this year’s Judges Choice Best Chili award. The judges were Bobbi and Paul Hatton, Linda and Alan Fleming and Mary Lee Nuegent. In below photo, the Mathews Kiwanis Club won the title of Best Decorated Booth (a football/goal post theme for the Super Bowl weekend).
