Children’s holiday craft classes offered at Chrysler Museum

The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk has a number of classes available for children and adults from today through the weekend to finish out winter break.
Straws and Swizzle Sticks, a beginning glassmaking class for ages 12 and older, will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 29, in the Perry Glass Studio. Students will learn how to heat and melt glass rods and create glass straws and swizzle sticks, applying color and melting glass in the process. The cost is $50.
From 1-4 p.m. today and Friday, students ages 6-12 will be able to create two-dimensional paintings and collages and experiment with constructing three-dimensional sculptures. They will also travel through the museum’s galleries to learn about artists from around the world. The cost is $50.
Students 12 and older may participate in an introduction to glass bead-making class from 1:30 to 4:30 today, creating animal-inspired glass beads and using dots as sculpting tools to create extensions of an animal, inc...
