A series of three ARTLabs for Kids with Tenley Raithel will be held this coming week at Arts on Main in Gloucester.
This Saturday, the first class will be for children ages 6-9. Students will create a James Rizzi-style futuristic city using a variety of lines and contrasting colors that will result in a dynamic work of art.
On Wednesday, Sept. 8, children in grades 5-8 will learn about Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and painters such as Matisse and create pigment portraits with a variety of materials.
The final class, to be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, will be for ages 10-13. Students will create a design using detailed drawing and reversing positive and negative space. Organic and geometric shapes will add contrast to the finished piece of art. A mixture of materials and media will be provided to choose from.
Each class will be held from 2-4 p.m. The cost is $25 per student per class.
