In recognition of Black History Month, Chesapeake Bank created a two-minute video about Maggie Lena Walker, the first Black woman to charter a bank and the first Black woman to serve as a bank president.
The video shares details about Maggie Walker’s life and career as a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur at a time when many women didn’t work outside the home.
“Maggie Walker was passionate about lifting the lives of African-Americans in her hometown of Richmond,” said Chesapeake Bank president and CEO Jeff Szyperski. “It was an honor for our bank to research and develop a video celebrating the remarkable achievements of this groundbreaking role model for women in the banking industry.”The video may be viewed at: https://info.chesbank.com/maggie-walker.
