On July 11, 2023 the Lord called home Cheryl June Waller, our beloved mother, sister, and friend. She was born on August 27, 1951 in Gloucester, Va. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Jackson Sr. and Odessa Jackson. Cheryl accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church. She was faithful in her church missionary work.
Cheryl graduated from Gloucester High School in 1968. She enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 22. While in the Army, Cheryl traveled the world, earned a bachelor’s degree, and retired after 20 years as a Staff Sergeant. After a four-month break, she accepted employment with the Army & Air Force Exchange Services. She was employed with the aforementioned for 20 years.
Cheryl was an avid reader and loved sports, especially college softball, women’s basketball, and football. She loved rooting for the Dallas Cowboys!
Cheryl leaves in Christ’s care, anticipating a glorious reunion with her one day, her son, DeMarcus Waller of Newport News, Va.; brother, Samuel Jackson Jr. (Jewel) Hayes, Va.; sister, Brenda White (William) of Clarksville, Tenn.
A service will be held at Zion Hill Baptist Church on July 22, 2023. Viewing is at 10 a.m. A funeral service begins at 11 o’clock.
