Cheryl Ann Brown, 53, of Hayes, died unexpectedly Jan. 6, 2012 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

Cheryl was a member of Union Baptist Church, and was associated with Jimmy Brown Seafood, owned by her late husband, Jimmy, who preceded her in death Sept. 24, 2011.

She was devoted to her children, always there for them, ready to listen, console and support. Cheryl was greatly loved in return and she will be forever missed.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Irving R. and Mable M. Shackelford, and brother, James Walter Shackelford.

She is survived by her children, Tina Brown, Melanie Brown, Dustin Brown; grandsons, Aiden Edward Brown and James Edward Brown II; brothers, Richard Shackelford and wife Sue, Ben Shackelford and wife Theresa, Timothy Shackelford, Irving Randolph Shackelford and wife Brenda, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
