Charlotte Howard, 75, of Mathews, Va., passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. 

 

Charlotte was born Dec. 1, 1938, and lived in Mathews all her life.

 

Charlotte was the daughter of the late Alice “Toots” Morgan and James E. Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Melvin J. Hudgins, and husband of 22 years, Robert C. Howard.

 

Charlotte worked for the Mathews School System as a secretary for over 45 years and knew most every child and parent in the county.

 

Charlotte loved her family, her home and her community. The simple pleasures of life were very fulfilling to Charlotte.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Hudgins Gibbs (Stuart) of Moon, Va., and Beverly Hudgins (Ben) of Virginia Beach, Va. She is also survived by three grandsons, Patrick and Brandon Gibbs and Peter Cavazos, and two step-grandchildren, Lia Almaraz and Ruben Cavazos Jr., along with a very special cousin and friend, Mrs. Carol Ann Dale of Smithfield, Va.  

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow in Milford Cemetery, Moon, Va.
