Charlotte Hartman Pereira, age 52, of Hayes, died on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at her home on Kings Creek Road, surrounded by loved ones, after an 18-month battle with glioblastoma (an aggressive form of brain cancer). Charlotte was a gifted polyglot, fluent in French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and taught for several years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in French from the College of Charleston. She met her husband Edmilson in Brazil and married in 1994. They shared a dream of traveling the world to evangelize through music and songwriting and composed many songs together. A passionate homemaker and gardener, Charlotte loved to create beautiful spaces for her family and friends to enjoy. She was the manager of the Health Trail Store in White Marsh Shopping Center and was cherished by the local community. Pauline Gohr Hartman, her mother, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Edmilson C. Pereira; children, Michaela Pereira, and Joshua Pereira; father, Dennis Hartman (Liz), and siblings, Christopher Hartman, Jonathan Hartman, and Elizabeth Hartman. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Walt McKibbon was held on Monday, April 10, 2023, in Cedar Grove Cemetery, 809 S. Henry Street, Williamsburg, Va. 23185.
