Charles K. Adams, 84, Hampton, died Thursday, March 5, 2015.
Born in Newport News, he was a lifelong Peninsula resident and member of First Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army and then joined the Virginia Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of LTC in 1975 after 26 years of service. He was the owner and operator of Tice’s Locksmith for 32 years.
He was a member and Past Master of Army & Navy Lodge #306, a member of Poquoson Lodge #49 and Monitor Lodge #197 and a past District Deputy Grand Master, District 14A. He enjoyed hunting, camping and cooking, but most of all, loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Stephen Adams, and a brother, Roy E. Adams.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Hazel N. Adams; his children, William G. Adams and his wife Barbara of Chesapeake, Penny A. Gilliland and her husband Robert, and Kathleen A. Faron and her husband Mark, all of Hampton; his “adopted” daughter, Louise Lacks of Hampton; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; a brother, Stephen S. Adams Jr. and his wife Margie of Ahoskie, N.C., and a sister, Barbara Dinwiddie of Mathews.
A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. Cynthia Rosser-Higgins. Interment followed in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
