Chantal expected to have little impact locally

At this point, Tropical Storm Chantal looks like it will have little, if any, impact on our area.

As of Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service showed the storm about 155 miles southwest of the Dominican Republic. With maximum sustained winds at 45 miles per hour, the NWS predicted Chantal has most likely weakened to a tropical wave. 

The current forecast track for Chantal has the storm moving northwest over Cuba Thursday night and tracking parallel to the Florida coast Saturday morning.

From there, the storm is expected to make landfall near southern Georgia and move into the mountainous regions of that state by early Monday.
