A filing was made in Mathews Circuit Court last week recording Judge Jeffrey W. Shaw’s October 2023 decision to grant a change of venue in the suit filed by Gwynn’s Island property owners Candy and Mark Eubank against former Mathews County employees Sue K. Thomas, Mindy Moran Conner and John Shaw.
The trial will be held in Middlesex County Circuit Court, but no date had been set as of Tuesday morning. It will, however, remain a Mathews County case, with all filings continuing to be made in Mathews Circuit Court.
In a range of other motions filed in the case, the judge denied the defendants’ request to prohibit further discovery but granted their request to prohibit the introduction of evidence from events that occurred after June 2016. The actions that led to the suit took place prior to that time.
