Mathews County Historical Society recently recognized Cheryl Battle, as she retires, with a Certificate of Appreciation for her many years of dedicated supervision and maintenance of the Tompkins Cottage Herb Garden. On hand for the presentation were, from left, Fred Lyon, John Hoffman, Mary Beth Almond, Reed Lawson, Bobbi Hatton, Cheryl Battle, new garden manager Stan Grice with the Mathews Gardening Group, Hunt Thompson and Roger Emig.
