The Central Village Homemakers have shared their special recipes through this newspaper as a special holiday present to the community since 1987. Over these 30 years, you have learned about their good cooking, and you have learned about the contributions they have made and the work they have done to help their fellow man.
So important are the Homemakers across this land that the second week in October has been declared as National Homemakers Week.
The immediate past president, Susan Hill, summed it up very well in just a couple of sentences when she wrote: “The Central Village Homemakers Club, which was started in 1975 according to charter member Mildred Hudgins, does have some of the best cooks in Mathews County. We also have sponsored a number of scholarships for local students and have donated all of our fundraising proceeds back to the community through our outreach programs.”
