Central United Methodist Church, Mathews, holds a program called “Journey with God.” The program includes music and a testimony by a church member about their walk with God and how He has impacted their lives. This is followed by the opportunity for members of the congregation to light a candle for someone needing prayer and to pray for that person at the altar railing.
Testimonies vary according to the speaker. Sometimes the speaker’s journey can describe a broken, twisted road; others a lifetime awareness of God and His steadfast influence love.
This week, the speaker was Tom Robinson. He gave an emotional testimony which began with the words, “I didn’t always put God first in my life, but you know what? I was always number one on his list!”
