Celebration in Lights opens Thanksgiving night

Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-thru holiday light event, opens for its 28th season on Thanksgiving night, Thursday, Nov. 26. Newport News Park will be transformed by over a million individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes.
The event will be open each evening, 5:30-10 o’clock, through Jan. 1, 2021. This year, admission on weeknights (Monday-Thursday) will be $12 per car, a savings of $3 off the weekend night (Friday-Sunday) rate of $15 per car. Buses are $75, any night. Additionally, advance purchase tickets (good any night) can be purchased for $10 at the Newport News Visitor Center at Newport News Park. Cash, credit cards (Visa and MasterCard) and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted at the gate.
More than 350 individual display pieces, 50+ arches, and over three miles of rope lighting enhance the natural beauty of the two-mile drive along Newport News Park’s main road.
