Cecil Blick Leigh of Gloucester, died on Monday, March 28, 2011.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1925 and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. in 1981 after 37 years of service.
Cecil was a member of Bellamy United Methodist Church and was a charter and life member of the Gloucester Moose Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie P. Leigh and Lena Hall Leigh; his brothers, W. Basil Leigh, Harry A. Leigh, and sister, Florence Leigh St. Clair.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Barry W. Leigh and his wife Connie; sisters-in-law, Eleanor W. Leigh and Vera Lashin Leigh, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cecil had been sick for many years with various illnesses. His wife was his constant caregiver. He loved his God with all his heart but was unable to attend church services in later years. He will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Riverside Walter Reed Hospice for their care and support given to Cecil and his family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home by the Rev. Thomas Bunting and assisted by the Rev. Kenneth Waclo. Burial will be in Bellamy Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
