Christchurch School Director of Athletics and Co- Curriculars John Dehm announced that the MiddlesexCounty private school will return to 11-man football in fall 2025, after a successful two year run of fielding eight-man football teams.
Christchurch is enjoying a growing enrollment, with this year’s ninth grade classthe biggest in recent history, a release stated. The positive growth coupled with the increased participation ofmulti-sport athletes, makes the return to traditional 11-man football possible, CCS said.
Joel Jorgensen will continue as head coach of the program. Jorgensen came in as coach for the eight-man program two years ago, winning the Virginia Independent Schools Football League Eight-Man State Championshipin his first year. The team returned to the playoffs this year. Before joining CCS, Jorgensen was an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University and then at his alma mater, McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. He has a .768 winning percentage.
