Catherine Virginia Hudgins King passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 1:13 p.m. Born in Mathews, Virginia, on May 31, 1926, she recently returned from Tampa, Florida, to reside in Gloucester, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hayes King Jr.; son, Aubrey King; daughter, Iris King Johnson.

She attended Thomas Hunter High School in Mathews, and earned her high school diploma from Douglas High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Catherine earned a number of certificates and higher education credits at a number of business schools and universities from Baltimore to Virginia. She remained grounded in her spiritual relationship with God and the church, at Antioch Baptist Church, Susan (Mathews), and at Shepherdsville Baptist Church, Gloucester.

Throughout her life and career, while raising her family, she remained an integral part of the Gloucester community. She worked in various positions in Gloucester Public Schools, the Virginia Workforce Network, and provided volunteer support for various organizations.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her son, Cornelius “Bubba” King (daughter-in-law, Eva); daughter, Yvonne King Booker; grandchildren, Lynette King, Aubrohn King (Monica), Katrina King (Darren), Anthony King; great- grandchildren, Nathan, Christian, Michael, Jonathan, Joylynn, Makayla; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loved relatives and friends.

Memorial services will take place at Shepherdsville Baptist Church, 8729 Farys Mill Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061 on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11 a.m.
