It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cassandra E. Conway of Gloucester, on May 1, 2024. Born to the late Celia Fox and Lucius T. Bomar, Cassandra was the fifth of her mother’s 11 children. She devoted her life to education and service, leaving behind a profound legacy that echoes through the many lives she touched.
Predeceased by: husband, James Kinner Conway Sr.; parents: Celia A. Fox and Lucius T. Bomar; siblings: Lynette Champion (Randolph), Michelle Bomar, Stephen Bomar (Ann), Kevin Bomar, Lawrence Collier (Prequita), and Creed Collier.
Cherishing her memory: sons, Lamont Bomar, James Jr., and Julius Conway; siblings: Juanita Vandross (James), Deborah Fox, Angela Bomar Jones, Anthony Johnson (late Nadine), David Fox, Vincent Fox (Gevenia), Gregory Adams (Pearl); God-daughter/Niece: Catrice Vandross; extended family: a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives. Her Iota Iota Sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Bethel Baptist Church family of Gloucester, Va.
Cassandra’s unwavering faith and dedication to teaching have left an indelible mark on the community. Known for her compassion and generosity, she shaped the future of countless individuals both in and out of the classroom.
A Celebration of Life and legacy will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church, 2978 Hickory Fork Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
Wake at 10 a.m. Funeral 12 p.m. Internment immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gloucester Retired Educators Association, c/o Wyllona E. Harris, P.O. Box 221, Hayes, Virginia 23072 in Cassandra’s honor. Memorial in Washington, D.C., is scheduled for June.
