In loving memory of our beloved Caroline Ann Smith, or “Care” as many called her, age 66, of Gloucester, mother of two, and adoring wife, received her angel wings at 1:11 in the afternoon on the 16th of April, 2024, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Caroline was born in 1958 in New York; in 1978, you could find her smiling brightly in her Coast Guard uniform proudly serving her country. While serving, she met the love of her life, James “Woody” Smith. The two married in 1981 and built a magnificent life together, later welcoming their two children.
She was a devout Christian who had a love and passion not only for her Lord, country, and family but enjoyed very much the world around her. You’d often find her outdoors gardening and taking in the fresh air anytime she could. She was always up to adventures with her family.
Caroline was preceded in death by her father, Robert Guyon; brother, Pete Guyon and sister, Patricia Coven.
Survived by her husband, James Smith; son, Dalton James “DJ” Smith; daughter, Krizma Alexis Smith-Arthur (Jimmy); granddaughters, Peyton and Presley Arthur.
The family would like to thank the Health Care Teams for the loving and compassionate care extended to her over the last few months.
In lieu of flowers, she has requested that donations be made in her memory to support her granddaughter, Peyton Arthur, who is currently battling leukemia. Donations can be earmarked for the Pediatric Oncology at the Children’s Hospital Foundation, Box 980693, Richmond, Va. 23298.
Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements.
